Ambassador Brotherhood

The schedule is set, the clinics are on the books, the roster is almost finalized and the coaches are ready to go.  We are still working hard on all the funding, but isn't life much more exciting when we live by faith and not by sight?  Plus, God knows all of our needs and He is always right on time.

It is, however, hard to believe that we are only one month away from the start of our 2nd Ambassador season.  So much work from so many has gone into the planning and preparation for this coming summer baseball mission experience, and we are just ready to go.

Right now, it is kind of wild, because here we are in 2009, we have picked up 5 additional coaches, added a second team and are gearing up for another round of ministry on the front lines.  For those of you who know about the front lines of ministry, you can appreciate the thrill of serving the Lord, listening to His Spirit and living by faith.  The blessings are amazing in this kind of life, handling holy things and walking obediently with the Lord.  What a wild ride and an unforgettable journey!

As we all look forward to the experiences this summer, there are so many things that just "wind my watch".  This moment, I am fired up just thinking about the indescribable "Ambassador Brotherhood" that is about to hit everyone of our players, parents and followers like an Oklahoma thunderstorm.  It is just amazing to me how impactful this team has been and will be in the lives of all those who don the Ambassador uniform.

Last year, Lee Tunnell nailed it when he held up an Ambassador hat and asked each one of our players to look at that "A".  He then said to each Ambassador, by the end of the summer, this "A" will mean something totally different to you.  He was right. By the end of the summer, every coach, player and family member connected to us had experienced the front lines of ministry, many experiences with the Lord and the true significance of the "Ambassador Brotherhood".

One place that this Ambassador Brotherhood is growing is in the heart of our coaches, and it is an incredible thing to experience.  For the past 10 months, we have been meeting every Wednesday night at the Cube from 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.  Every time we get together, this brotherhood has grown stronger and stronger.  Last week, I got an e-mail from one of our new coaches.  His name is Erik Hughes and he is the assistant coach at Moore High School.  He wrote:

I wanted to take a little time and thank all of you guys for allowing me to be a part of something special like this. I haven’t been excited for something like this in a while. This summer is especially important to me because in college I was that bad seed who did everything possible to distance myself from GOD, and I do not want to see any of these kids go through some of the same bad times I went through. I just want to thank GOD and all of you for doing something good in a sport with a bad social reputation. I am pumped to be working with all my new BROTHERS to build real men in Christ.

This summer, I am so grateful for the men who have been called by God to coach our teams.  Every one of our coaches are not only passionate about the game of baseball, but they are even more passionate about following the Lord.  Every one of our coaches has a  calling to be an Ambassador, and God is going to use each one of them to help raise up our team to become "real men," both on and off the field.

The spring rains are here, the temperature is rising, the flowers are blooming and the grass is growing.  The uniforms have been ordered and the hats are on the way.  The 2009 Ambassadors are about to report and new families are coming into the Brotherhood. The experience is going to be unforgettable.  The connection is going to be indescribable.  And the journey with the Lord is going to be truly supernatural.

Bring on the Ambassador Brotherhood!  I am ready to go.

It is just one month away and I cannot wait.  Very soon we will all hear those incredible words that will kick it all off:

"Play Ball!"
