Day 2 Wrapping Up

Today was an absolute amazing experience.  We headed out around 8:30 this morning and caught a couple of games at the Mexican version of the Little League World Series.  Chiuahuaha was playing Saltillo and these kids were hitting bombs.  From the very beginning we were all hooked into the experience.

I wish I could express what the atmosphere was like.  It was one of those experiences that you just had to see to really understand.  We got off the bus and the crowd was electric.  All of the families of the players were effectively utilizing their homemade percussion devices and they were not missing a beat.  We divided the Ambassadors in half and some cheered for Chihuahua and the others cheered for Saltillo.  It was so much fun.

After the game, we went out on the field and got to share with all of the teams who were playing.  It was so amazing to watch the gospel being presented by our guys through translators and seeing these little kids and their families listening to every word.  Brian Holt told me at lunch today that had to have been what the Disciples felt like when Christ spoke to people.  He told me that outside of being at Falls Creek, he had never experienced so many people listening to the gospel.  That was an amazing statement from Brian today.

After we shared with the kids and their families, somehow we started an in-prompt-to baseball clinic with one team from Monclova and one team from Saltillo.  It was challenging to communicate because of the language barrier but It was amazing. The clinic was a blast and had everything from pitching, hitting, fielding and even a couple of dog piles.  I am sure you will be able to catch some pictures on facebook.

After the clinic, we were pretty hungry.  Pastor Jesus, (Isn't that a great name for a pastor?) invited us to his church where several ladies cooked some of the best Mexican grub that I have ever put in my mouth.  After lunch, we were back to the hotel for an hour nap.  I gotta tell you, that was a good nap.

I am going to go ahead and stop here because I am ready for some dinner.  I will finish telling you about day 2 after some Carne Asada and tortillas.

Man, I love Mexico.

I know parents back home are anxious so keep your eyes peeled to the blog before your bedtime or get up early to catch the rest of Day 2.  The rest of the story is pretty cool.

This is so awesome! Thanks for the updates. Aaron can tell you about the percussion devices used at the Little League World Series he played in when he was 9 when we played Puerto Rico. They definitely out cheered us. Praise the Lord on all that's happened so far and what is yet to come.

Its exciting to hear whats going on down in Mexico. Continue to keep us updated. We are thankful and blessed to hear that God is working in not only the lives of who the Ambassadors are ministering to, but how God is working in the lives of the Ambassadors. Tell the guys that Wacey, Shane, and Trevor had really a good game in the All State Game. The East won
19-4! I will copy and paste the article for the boys to read.
Remind the boys to keep in touch with mom and dad thru email when they can.

From Coachesaid.com
Small East 19, Small West 4
Things got off to a bad start for the West and never got much batter as the East cruised to an emphatic 19-4 All-State victory.

The East sent 14 batters to plate in the top of the first, plating seven runs on five hits to set the tone for the entire contest. Caney’s Aaron Chalk provided two RBI hits and Roff’s Brendan McCurry, Red Oak’s Dakota Knight, Oktaha’s Shane Leach contributed run-scoring singles in the early explosion.

An inning later the East cashed in three more tallies as Trevor Bowen from Silo opened with a single before a two-out RBI single by Latta’s Wacey Henderson, run-scoring double from Dale’s Dalton Streber and another RBI hit from Dale teammate Turner Coon.

The West broke up the shutout bid in the second, touching East starter Logan Oller from Silo for three runs on a three-run home run off the bat of Cordell’s Trey Waldrop. They added another run in the third after a pair of walks and a hit batsman loaded the bases.

In the fifth, the East bats awoke again, pushing across another run following a two-out double by Bowen, and then put the finishing touches on with eight runs on eight hits in the sixth, highlighted by Knight’s grand slam over the centerfield wall. Henderson, Streber and Ripley’s Kaleb Hoffman all tagged two hits in the frame.

Overall, the East pounded out 21 hits in the seven-inning contest, led by Streber’s two singles, two doubles and three RBI. Knight and Henderson ended with three hits each as Knight drove in five and Henderson scored four times.

Chalk, McCurry, Bowen and Hoffman finished with two hits apiece.

Oktaha’s Cale Elam fired three scoreless innings of relief, yielding one hit with four strikeouts to pick up the pitching victory.

I think they misspelled Wacey's name....shouldn't it be Hendreson?
