Throughout my life, I have tried to consistently ask the Lord to help me see people like He sees them. The truth is that if each one of us had the ability to see what God sees, we would all pay closer attention to do what God wants us to do.
In my life, I am so amazed that the Lord gives us the opportunity to participate with Him in His supernatural work in the world. God most definitely does not need us because He is Omniscient (All-Knowing), Omnipotent (All-Powerful), and Omnipresent (Everywhere, Every place at Every time). However, He graciously gives us the opportunity to handle holy things and participate with Him as He works during our time on the earth. This is one of the reasons why I am so excited about this upcoming summer with the Ambassadors.
Every time I think about our ministry, "A Life Worth Following" and "The Ambassadors," I am blown away that the Lord would allow us to utilize the sport of baseball as a platform to point others to Jesus. This summer, one of our major goals and most passionate prayers is that we will be able to develop 32 Ambassadors and 8 Coaches to grow a deep passion for the Lord and a deep burden for the souls of men that will continue to grow for the rest of their lives.
I want to remind you of one of the most amazing prayers that came from the lips of Jesus:
"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:36-39
Over 2000 years ago, Jesus led his disciples to pray that workers would go out into the harvest field and would serve as workers bringing real hope to people who needed to be touched by God. It is incredible to realize that our summer baseball team is part of the fulfillment of that prayer that was voiced so long ago. Our players and coaches are going out on baseball fields all summer long serving as workers in the "harvest field" described by Jesus.
I am so grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to respond to this historic call and prayer voiced by my Savior. For thousands of years, Jesus has been calling His followers to pay attention to people. He has been moving His church and His followers to have a deep passion for the souls of men. The Lord has been equipping His people to do the work of ministry since the beginning of time so that His people will be able to use their gifts to help others understand the gift of salvation that is available to them.
We know that the Lord has given the Ambassadors abilities on the baseball field. We have discovered that God can use those abilities to help point others to Him. In the United States, baseball is really influential and athletes have a natural platform of influence. Therefore, it makes a lot of sense that we work hard at using our abilities to help others know who Jesus is and what He can do in their lives.
As we prepare to start our second Ambassador baseball season, I have a couple of requests:
1. Will you pray for our team today? Please pray that they will be faithful workers in the harvest field for the rest of their lives. Pray that each one of our players and coaches grow a passion for the souls of men and develop the ability to work effectively for the Kingdom of God.
2. Will you consider using your God-given abilities to be an answer to this prayer voiced by Jesus over 2000 years ago?
The truth is that life is too short to waste our time on things that really don't matter. I am not going to make any more excuses about why I can't serve the Lord today. I am ready to be an answer to Jesus' prayer and I am ready to get going this summer for an experience that is much more than baseball.
I am ready to experience a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit raising up future leaders in America that are growing a passion for the souls of men.
Ambassador Family, it is harvest time and that means it is time to "Hit the field!"
